\nElla Toone came on from the bench and produced a moment of magic as Manchester United eventually beat Leicester City in a crucial Women’s Super League encounter.<\/p>\n
United were in control for large spells of the game but were thwarted by Leicester City goalkeeper Janina Leitzig, who came up with some fine saves.<\/p>\n
Leitzig kept United at bay as she denied the likes of Geyse, Melvine Malard and Leah Galton from finding the back of the net.<\/p>\n
Leicester’s chances were few and far between each other and they only managed four shots on target. Mary Earps in the United goal had an answer for most of the questions asked of her.<\/p>\n
The Foxes’ best opportunity to take the lead came when Jutta Rantala cut inside and released a shot but luckily for United, she couldn’t hit the target. Rantala and her teammate, Yuka Momiki were the main sources of threat for Leicester and caused the Red Devils’ backline a few fair problems.<\/p>\n
Momiki also hit the post in the second half.<\/p>\n
It seemed like the game was destined to end in a stalemate until Marc Skinner made some inspired personnel changes. He brought on Nikita Parris, Lucia Garcia and Toone.<\/p>\n
Toone came up with the goods for her team and manager when she broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute of proceedings.<\/p>\n
The United n.o 7 had been on the pitch for just 10 minutes, but that’s all she needed to make an impact. She unleashed a thunderbolt from 25 yards which flew past Leitzig. Frankly, the Leicester shot-stopper had no chance of saving it and despite her best efforts, could only watch as the ball found the top-right corner.<\/p>\n
