\nManchester United loanee Donny van de Beek has been handed a major lifeline in his bid to save his struggling career with Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly still mulling over retaining him on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n

Van de Beek joined Frankfurt from United in the January transfer window to escape his troubles in England but everything has not gone according to plan.<\/p>\n

He has made just four starts in Germany’s top flight and has come off the bench in two games.<\/p>\n

The Dutchman has also been left as an unused substitute in a further six games. Whenever given the opportunity to play, the United loanee has often struggled to make an impact.<\/p>\n

Late last month, a report<\/a> covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are desperate to offload Van de Beek and remove his wages from their books.<\/p>\n

Frankfurt have an option to buy the midfielder from United for \u20ac10 million. It was relayed that the player has struggled to justify a top club splashing that kind of money on him and Erik ten Hag’s side are prepared to give a discount.<\/p>\n

It subsequently emerged<\/a> that the 20-time English champions are even prepared to cut their losses and let the 26-year-old leave for free.<\/p>\n

Van de Beek’s Old Trafford contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025.<\/p>\n

It was believed that Frankfurt, who have been very unimpressed by Van de Beek, had already decided not to extend his stay<\/a> at Deutsche Bank Park but according to The Daily Mail<\/a>, there is still some hope that the Bundesliga outfit could make a u-turn and keep him.<\/p>\n

“Donny van de Beek’s frustrating career post-Ajax has continued during his loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, but Confidential understands the prospect of him remaining there is not off the table completely just yet.”<\/p>\n

“Sources close to the Bundesliga side insist no decision has been made yet on whether to make Van de Beek’s loan permanent and any such discussions have been placed on hold until the end of the campaign.”<\/p>\n

The newspaper adds, “Frankfurt have \u00a310.3m option-to-buy built into the loan and while there is some pessimism in United circles that that will be enacted, sources in Germany stressed that it is not already a foregone conclusion that he will return to England.”<\/p>\n

Van de Beek and Frankfurt return to action on Saturday when they take on Stuttgart.<\/p>\n
