Manchester United succumbed to another defensive collapse during their recent stalemate against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, a result which has significant ramifications in the race for top four.

The Red Devils have little time to recuperate from the disappointment, with high flying Aston Villa due in Manchester tomorrow for a visit, and Brighton to come shortly thereafter.

Despite finding themselves through to their second domestic cup final of the season, there remains more work to be done though before the 20-time-English-Champions can truly challenge their noisy neighbours for the title.

United will be on the lookout for major reinforcements in the summer and a number of names have been linked with the club in recent weeks.

One name which refuses to go away is Celta Vigo’s Gabriel Veiga.

The 20-year-old has scored nine and assisted four in his 29 appearances in La Liga this season, firmly establishing himself as one of the most exciting youngsters in Spanish football.

Veiga has a paltry release clause of €40 million, a bargain price in today’s market, which makes him an eye-watering prospect for several European giants.

According to transfer-guru Fabrizio Romano, in the light of interest from several top sides in Spain and England, the Spaniard has decided to change representation and sign with super agent Pini Zahavi.

This change signals an intent from the player that he is open to a move in the summer, and Celta are aware that the vultures will soon be circling around their star prospect.

Veiga remains an interesting proposition for the Red Devils.

Despite the much required additions of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro last summer, United’s midfield still suffers from a severe lack of ball carriers, and requires more depth.

They could do with a player of Veiga’s skill-set in the middle, and a move for him makes all the more sense, considering how high his ceiling is.

Manchester United threw away a comfortable two goal lead in their recent stalemate against Tottenham Hotspur, with yet another defensive collapse in the second half.

The Red Devils have little time to recuperate, with high flying Aston Villa due in Manchester tomorrow for a visit, and Brighton to come shortly thereafter.

United have performed admirably under new manager Erik ten Hag, and find themselves through to their second domestic cup final of the season, having already lifted the Carabao Cup in February.

There remains more work to be done though, before the 20-time-English-Champions can truly challenge their noisy neighbours for the title.

The club have meticulously scouted a multitude of players scattered across Europe, hoping to shore up reinforcements for every position on the pitch.

According to DIEZ, United were out on another headhunting trip in Greece recently, with a scout present for Aris Thessaloniki FC’s 2-1 victory over Olympiakos in the Super League.

The player being studied was Aris forward Luis Palma, who would score the winner on the night with a sensational strike directly from a corner.

The Honduran International has been in inspired form for the Kitrinomavroi, scoring 11 goals and racking up seven assists in his 33 appearances this season.

Despite being linked with Portuguese club Braga and Spanish club Levante, Palma made the surprising move of signing with the Greek club on a four and a half-year deal in January, 2022.

It has clearly worked in his favour, with the likes of Rangers, Anderlecht and RC Lens all vying for his signature, alongside United.

Palma has a contract at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium until June 2026 and the Greek side will look to extract full value for their star prospect, aware that trying to hold on to him may prove to be an exercise in futility.

The Honduran remains an interesting proposition for the Red Devils.

Diez cites Greek outlet Transfer Geeks, who claim that the United scout “was amazed” by the Honduran’s goal and the club will continue to monitor his situation, with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.

United currently have the likes of Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony as options on either side of their attack, with young guns like Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri backing them up.

A case could be made for a loan move for Pellistri, who requires more game-time to truly discover his feet at the highest level, and in that case, a further argument could be made for the signing of Palma as a more experienced replacement for the Uruguayan.

Expect more updates on this front soon enough.

Prognosis, diagnosis, ice baths and cryotherapy, multiple journeys under the knife and a whole lot of loneliness and despair.

At just 18 years of age, Willy Kambwala has endured the sufferings of a seasoned veteran, but the youngster has not let them get the best of him, not yet.

Signed for a hefty €4M fee on deadline day in 2020, the then French U-16’s captain had the world at his feet when he made his much anticipated move to the Theatre of Dreams.

It was a dream that would quickly unfold into a recurring series of never-ending nightmares.

Born in Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kambwala’s family relocated to France when he was just five years old.

His journey in the world of football would start at Sochaux in 2018.

Les Lionceaux are well known for producing a string of excellent academy products over the years, with the likes of Marcus Thuram and Maxcence Lacroix currently strutting their stuff in the Bundesliga for Borussia Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg respectively.

Kambwala’s rise through the Sochaux ranks was meteoric, and soon he would be captaining his country at the U-16 level.

Meanwhile, dossiers were being compiled at various top sides scattered across Europe detailing Kambwala’s brilliance, and it seemed inevitable that he would not be at Stade Auguste Bonal for very long.

Former British PM Boris Johnson would play a role in hastening that journey.

With the onset of new Brexit laws and regulations which would prohibit British clubs from ever truly targeting U-18 talents in Europe, Manchester United found themselves compelled to embark on a continental signing spree in the summer of 2020.

In came Marc Jurado from Barcelona, Alejandro Garnacho from Atlético Madrid, Isak Hansen-Aarøen from Tromso, Robert Vitek from Sigma Olomouc and Alvaro Fernandez from Real Madrid, but the Red Devils would have to wait until deadline day to pull off the best signing of the lot.

Despite serious interest from bitter rivals Liverpool, United won the race for Kambwala’s signature, but misfortune struck early.

Barely weeks into life in Manchester, Kambwala suffered a severe ankle injury in a nothing game against Salford’s first team, ruling him out for eleven months.

He would make his long-awaited return to action in an 8-2 thrashing of Birmingham City’s Under-18s in the Premier League Cup in October of 2021, but fate was not done inflicting its cruel blows upon the youngster.

Kambwala continued to suffer niggling injuries through the last term, only making a handful of appearances across the 21/22 campaign, but his luck seems to finally be changing.

The youngster has been able to string together a steady run of games, and looks like he is back to his very best.

As The Peoples Person reported earlier, in the wake of injuries to first choice centre back pairing Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, Kambwala has also been promoted to the first team setup.

The Red Devils have suffered several lapses in defence in recent weeks, against the likes of Sevilla and Tottenham Hotspur, and the elegant Frenchman may be the answer to United’s defensive woes.

Standing at a towering 6’4, Kambwala is a physical specimen who dominates contests in the ground and air with equal ease.

He is no slouch with a burst of pace and raw acceleration which allows him to keep up with the paciest of attackers.

Comfortable on either side of defence, Kambwala possesses a superb range of passing, and despite his massive frame, can turn like a ballerina.

If things continue to devolve in defence, Erik ten Hag may find himself forced to give the teenager minutes at the highest level.

Many will argue that he may not yet be ready, but the kids did win something in 94′ despite Alan Hansen’s many inhibitions about their abilities, and perhaps this kid will too.

As the old adage goes, ‘If you’re good enough, you’re old enough’, a sentiment which echoes throughout United’s storied history.

Step up, Willy Kambwala, the time is nigh.

Manchester United are through to their second knockout tournament final of the current campaign, after emerging victorious against Brighton during their FA Cup semifinal clash over the weekend.

The Red Devils now face a broken Tottenham Hotspur side later tonight, fresh from a 6-1 humiliating loss to Newcastle United, in a bid to consolidate their position in the race for top four.

With the Glazers finally on the verge of completing the sale of the club, times are looking bright for the red half of Manchester.

Following the takeover, United will be on the lookout for major reinforcements in the summer, and a number of names have been linked with the club in recent months.

One name that keeps popping up is Fulham’s Joao Palhinha.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder joined the Cottagers for a reported £20million fee from Portuguese outfit Sporting CP last summer, putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.

He has flourished ever since for Marco Silva’s side, racking up 34 appearances across all competitions and scoring four goals.

‘Queque’ has made more tackles (119) than any other Premier League player this term, and his impressive performances have made a lot of top sides sit up and take notice.

According to a new report by Football Insider, Palhinha’s stint in South London could soon be drawing to a close, with Fulham set to consider bids in excess of £50million for their midfield destroyer this summer.

United are among a whole host of clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, who have been keeping a close eye on Palhinha and are known admirers of his style of play.

The Portuguese international remains one of Fulham’s highest earners, drawing a reported wage of around £50,000-a-week at Craven Cottage.

It will hardly prove to be a stumbling block for interested suitors and Palhinha is likely to have his wages doubled, even tripled, if the right move materialises.

United require a back-up option for Casemiro and Palhinha could certainly do a job for the Red Devils in said role.

The Brazilian international remains United’s only true option in defensive midfield, and his absence from proceedings this term have often coincided with chaotic spells of form.

Palhinha would be the ideal candidate to step in for the three-time Champions League winners whenever required, giving United the kind of squad depth they require to truly kick-start the Erik ten Hag revolution at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are through to their second knockout tournament final of the current campaign, after emerging victorious against Brighton during their FA Cup semi final clash over the weekend.

The Red Devils have performed admirably under new manager Erik ten Hag this term, bringing an end to a wretched six year trophy drought with a 2-0 win against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in February.

United are also on course for a top four finish in the league, which would seal their place in Europe’s top tier knockout tournament, the Champions League, next season.

Ten Hag’s men are nowhere close to being the finished article however, and there is plenty of movement expected in the summer transfer window.

A number of names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months.

One name that refuses to go away is Napoli centre back Kim Min-jae.

The South Korean has been in imperious form for the Italian side following his €18 million move from Turkish giants Fenerbahce last summer.

Drafted in as a replacement for the outgoing captain and club legend Kalidou Koulibaly after his transfer to Chelsea was finalised, Kim Min-jae has taken to his new surroundings like a duck to water, guiding the Parthenopeans to the brink of what will be their first league title in over three decades.

His commanding performances in the heart of the Napoli defence this term have had many labelling him as the next outstanding defensive talent in the world.

The likes of PSG, United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have all tracked Kim’s progress in Naples, with a view to a permanent signing in the summer.

Now, according to a new report from Sun and Calciomercato, Manchester City have joined the hunt for the 26-year-old.

Pep Guardiola has reportedly earmarked the 26-year-old as a key target for the summer, and the noisy neighbours will rival United for his signature.

The Citizens are not light in the CB department, with the likes of Nathan Ake, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias all playing a part in proceedings this term.

The reigning PL champions have repeatedly strengthened in defence over the years, however, and they may choose to do so again by signing one of the most in-form defenders in world football.

Kim has a release clause just north of £40m which is only valid for a few days in July, and Napoli are aware that it will be extremely difficult to hold on to their star man in defence with so many top sides vying for his services.

The South Korean remains an interesting proposition for the Red Devils.

With doubt surrounding the futures of club captain Harry Maguire and Sweden skipper Victor Lindelof at Old Trafford, United’s long standing interest in the Napoli man might just culminate in a transfer enquiry come July.

Wherever he does eventually land up, this summer promises to be an interesting one for Kim Min-Jae.

Manchester United have a long and storied tradition when it comes to fielding young blood.

The Busby Babes and Fergie’s Fledglings dominated the sport for several decades at a stretch, winning multiple major honours, gathering envious glances from the rest of Europe.

United have continued to rely heavily upon the young lads from Carrington, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Elanga, Scott McTominay and recently Kobiee Mainoo all playing a major part in proceedings this term.

Now, the Red Devils are attempting to add another fresh face to their youth, that is according to Fotbollskanalen, who claim that the 20-time English champions are eagerly tracking the progress of Mjällby AIF’s sensation Otto Rosengren.

Following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Brommapojkarna on Monday, the teenager sat down for an interview with the Swedish outlet and admitted at being ‘shocked’ when he was initially informed of United’s interest in him.

“I didn’t know that club was here, I didn’t even know they had been to Strandvallen. I was shocked when I read about it. I sat at home and saw when it came out, it said that United are scouting me, I was a bit shocked,” Rosengren said.

“It’s nice to hear and it shows that you are doing something well. But I don’t attach too much importance to it,”

“It’s quite powerful. But then, of course, you can’t think about that when you’re playing. But when you think about it, it’s quite big.”

“Just keep playing my game. It’s hard work that got me here, and I want to keep developing. It’s the same job. You can’t be satisfied anywhere; you have to keep going and then there will be good opportunities.”

Hans Larsson, the club’s sporting director, had spoken out about United’s interest in Rosengren to Danish outlet Tipsbladet last week.

The likes of Herenveen and Feyenoord are also keeping tabs on the 19-year-old, and the Dutch duo will rival United for his signature.

The Swedish U21 International has a contract which runs until 2025, and Mjällby are aware that by not selling him this summer they risk his valuation taking a big hit.

Son of club icon Patrik Rosengren, widely dubbed as “the best Swedish player who never got to play an international match”, Otto’s association with Mjällby goes back several decades and the youngster admits he is in no rush to leave Strandvallen at the moment.

“There is interest, but it is nothing concrete as far as I know. You have to take a stand if there is something concrete, an offer or something like that. I have a contract until 2025,” he specified.

With Erik ten Hag at the helm, youth will always get a chance, as evidenced from his spell at Amsterdam.

If he does sign, Rosengren will know that if he can hit the ground running, he can force his way into the manager’s plans, sooner than at most other top European sides.

After all, as the old adage goes, ‘If you’re good enough, you’re old enough’, a sentiment intertwined with United’s legacy.

A legacy the Swede may soon be a part of, come May.

Manchester United are through to their second final of the current campaign, after emerging victorious against Brighton during their FA Cup semi-final clash over the weekend.

The Red Devils rode their luck all the way through to the penalty shootout before Solly March’s blazed spot-kick signalled the end of the Seagulls’ resistance.

Victor Lindelof stepped up and confidently dispatched his spot kick, sending United fans all over the world into raptures.

The Sweden captain kept his place in the starting eleven, despite enduring a difficult evening during United’s humiliating 0-3 second leg away defeat against Sevilla in the Europa League last Thursday.

His partner on the night Harry Maguire was suspended for the Wembley outing and there are doubts whether he can make his way back into the first XI even with injuries.

The 30-year-old was subjected to heavy criticism following the Europa League game, having given the ball away for Sevilla’s opener on the night.

The intense scrutiny was harsh considering Maguire had been given a hospital pass to deal with by goalkeeper David de Gea while he was being converged on by a trio of Sevilla markers.

The United skipper has often found himself being made into a scapegoat by fans and the media alike, and there remains a real possibility of him exiting Old Trafford this summer.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have struck up a strong partnership at the heart of defence for the Red Devils this season and the 20-time English champions are also likely to usher in more reinforcements in the summer, furthering the argument for Maguire to seek pastures new.

In his latest column for CaughtOffside, former Premier League forward Stan Collymore addressed the possibility of the Englishman’s departure from Manchester this summer.

“He has to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season,” Collymore said.

“I would love to see him at Villa Park – I’d drive him from Manchester to the Midlands myself if I could.

“A club like Aston Villa and Maguire would be a match made in heaven. They’re big enough to match his ambition, they’ve got an experienced manager who could definitely get the best out of him and competition for Tyrone Mings would only be a positive thing.”

Aston Villa have been flying high under new manager Unai Emery.

The Villans are unbeaten in nine league games, have taken 23 points out of a possible 27 and suddenly find themselves in the mix for European football next summer.

Maguire has been a much maligned figure since his move to Old Trafford, but there is a Rolls-Royce of a defender in there who remains a mainstay in the English national team setup.

If he were to move to Villa Park this summer, he could transform the side and with it, perhaps revive his own flailing club career in the process.

Manchester United crashed out of the Europa League, after a humiliating 3-0 second leg away defeat against Sevilla on Thursday.

The defeat exposed gaping holes in the United squad, which has been blighted by a combination of injuries and suspensions, furthering the argument for reinforcements in the summer.

A new number 9 is top of the priority list for Erik ten Hag, and a number of names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, SL Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal kolo Muani are three names that have been touted as possible options in attack for the Red Devils, alongside Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane, who remains a long term target since the days of Ole gunnar Solskjaer at the helm.

All four are likely to be targeted by a number of top sides across Europe, principal among them Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, who are yet to truly fill Robert Lewandowski’s massive shoes.

In his latest edition of Fact Files for CaughtOffside, German transfer expert Christian Falk addressed the possibility of Bayern Munich and Manchester United going head to head for the same options this summer.

The Bavarians missed out on Erling Haaland to United’s next door neighbours Manchester City, but they will not be backing down this time around.

Bayern rarely tend to pay over €100m for a player, but according to Falk, they are ready to go all out and spend big money in order to get their man.

Harry Kane remains a principal target for both Bayern and United but the German champions are aware that the England captain wants to stay on in the Premier League.

Victor Osimhen is another who could soon be the subject of an intense tug of war between the two sides, but the Nigerian International’s price tag of €150m, which has been reported by the Italian press, may prove to be too steep for Bayern.

Kolo Muani, on the other hand, having had a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga, is favoured by new Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel and seems very attainable, with Frankfurt already resigned to losing their star man.

Die Adler have already started planning for life without the Frenchman, with the likes of Omar Marmoush from Wolfsburg and Elye Wahi from Montpellier being touted as possible replacements.

Kolo Muani has also been scouted on several occasions by United, and his signature is another that could spark a bidding war between the two sides.

Atalanta forward Rasmus Højlund has also been closely followed by Die Roten, and could be targeted if their principal options don’t pan out.

Wout Weghorst and Anthony Martial remain United’s only two options in the striking department for the moment.

While Weghorst has had a positive effect on the side with his ability to hold up the ball and bring others into play via adept lay-offs and intelligent pressing, his lack of goals is a serious concern.

Equally concerning has been Martial’s injury record this term and, despite impressing whenever he’s been on the pitch, the Frenchman cannot be relied upon to stay fit and lead the line for a majority of a season.

United and Bayern both desperately need the services of a top marksman this summer, and it will be interesting to see who they target moving forward, with a plethora of options all vying for a blockbuster summer move.

Manchester United crashed out of the Europa League after a humiliating 3-0 second leg defeat against Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Thursday.

Bruno Fernandes missed the fixture through suspension and the Red Devils struggled without their talisman, mustering just 3 shots on target despite having a majority of the ball.

Marcel Sabitzer started in his place, looking to excel in the no. 10 role once more after his brace against the Spaniards in the first leg, but he was unable to repeat his Old Trafford heroics in Seville.

The Austrian was signed on deadline day in January, after an injury to Christian Eriksen forced United to desperately scour the market for midfield options.

Another recourse, which was genuinely considered by the 20-time-English champions, was to rescind young Hannibal Mejbri’s loan spell at Birmingham City.

The Red Devils would ultimately decide against recalling the young Tunisian from what has been a very productive loan outing in the Midlands, choosing instead to sign Sabitzer on a temporary deal from Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich.

Hannibal, however, continues to impress for the Blues.

The Tunisian international has been deployed in multiple roles in midfield and attack, racking up over 35 appearances in the Championship, which includes 20 starts.

Blues manager John Eustace labelled Hannibal as “unplayable” after the 20-year-old scored his first senior goal in a 2-0 victory against rivals West Bromwich Albion in February, helping his side to their first double over their neighbours since 1998-99.

Despite not being a regular starter, Hannibal has still managed to accrue 6 assists for City in all competitions, once again demonstrating his innate ability to make a difference in the final third, something he shares in common with the likes of Eriksen and Fernandes.

His aggression and commitment continue to define him as a player, however, with his famous cameo against Liverpool in a 4-0 defeat last season still fresh in everyone’s memories.

Gary Neville was effusive in his praise for a teenage Hannibal on that day, saying:

“It takes a young kid to come on and show the rest of them how to sprint for the ball and put a challenge in.

“I’m actually proud of him! Maybe he doesn’t like the idea of Liverpool players passing it round him. I wish the rest of them were the same.”

Mejbri continued to live up to his reputation in Birmingham City’s recent league win against Millwall, according to The Daily Mirror.

Introduced as a 79th minute substitute as the Blues sought a way to see out an improbable win against the high flying Lions, Hannibal grabbed the headlines in stoppage time as he evaded multiple flying tackles, helping run the clock down before winning a free-kick.

He proceeded to raise his arms in the air and clench his fists in the direction of the Birmingham fans, before turning to the notoriously hostile Den and riling the home fans by repeating the gesture.

Following the incident, Hannibal was reportedly ‘pelted with missiles’, as the commentator on the night rightly noted: “He is that kind of player…(he’s) getting the crowd going.”

Having matured into a complete midfielder who is not afraid of mixing up his technical elegance with a combative approach to the game, Hannibal will undoubtedly remain one of the key men for John Eustace’s side, as they look to avoid the drop to League One, come the month of May.

If he continues his progress, the youngster could yet open the door to first team proceedings at Old Trafford next term.

Honduran outlet Diez published an intriguing interview with a young up and coming footballer who shares his name with a Manchester United legend.

15-year-old Hendrick Ronaldo has been making waves with FC Solothurn and is considered one of the top prospects in a talented, young side.

Born in Switzerland, the country his mother hails from, the versatile teenager can play in midfield, lead the line up front, and even fill in at right-back.

His father is Honduran, and the youngster dreams of representing Los Catrachos at the international level.

“I’d like to play and defend the colors of the Honduran national team,” he answered swiftly, when asked where he sees himself in a decade.

The teenager also explained that the name Ronaldo is an ode to more than one footballer with the same name.

He said, “It’s a common European name in Portugal. I also like it for Ronaldo from Brazil.”

When asked about which European powerhouse he’d like to sign for, Hendrick did not hesitate.

“For Manchester United from England.”

Despite being in his infancy, as far as football goes, Hendrick does seem to have a good head on those young shoulders and fans can be excited by the prospect of seeing him line up for the Red Devils someday.

Manchester United have a long and storied tradition when it comes to fielding young blood.

The Busby Babes and Fergie’s Fledglings dominated the game for decades at a stretch, winning multiple major honours, gathering envious glances from the rest of Europe.

United have continued to rely heavily upon the young lads from Carrington, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Elanga, Scott McTominay and recently Kobiee Mainoo all playing a major part in proceedings this term.

Maybe someday soon enough, Hendrick Ronaldo is bound to join them in their future endeavours.
